As a Financial Advisor it is a bit disingenuous to say that I come up with financial plans for you. This is because you already have your own plans. Maybe your plan is to retire early, or to have a 2nd home in the mountains, or maybe it is to be able to travel with your family. Regardless of what your plan is, it is your plan; my job is to help bring that plan to life.

How do we do that? First things first we need to see what we have to work with. By getting information on your current assets, expenses, income, savings, etc. we can start to get a picture of your current financial health. From there, together we can model your personal life and retirement vison in our collaborative software to gain a picture of how your current path to and through retirement looks.

This is when the fun starts. By interactively adjusting the various parameters of your financial life we can quickly see if you are on track, ahead of your targets, or falling behind. We can also stress test your plan for various unforeseen events in the economy or life that may derail your plans. Through all of this we can build a roadmap for your plan; and from that roadmap design investment and protection strategies for you to keep you on track.

If you need assistance, I am always happy to talk about investment and financial planning strategies; and if you have questions, I am always happy help no matter how basic or advanced.

There is no pressure, no obligations, and everything is kept confidential, so please feel free to reach out. I look forward to speaking with you.

Shawn Hill

Founding Partner - Financial Consultant

I have lived in Cincinnati my entire life.  The conservative Mid-Western values instilled in me by my parents and grandparents have shaped who I am and are the Cornerstone to how we serve our clients and their families.  These values are part of every customized plan we create for a client; Family, Faith, Fiscal Responsibility, Charity, and Legacy.

I am a competitive person and at an early age this competitive nature was channeled through athletics leading to a basketball scholarship at a small school in Ft. Wayne, IN, St. Francis University.  This was a great experience, but after my Freshman year I realized the NBA wasn’t scouting small college games in Indiana, so I decided to transfer to the University of Cincinnati to finish my degree in Economics and Finance.

Transferring to U.C. was the smartest thing I ever did because at the beginning of my Junior year I met a young co-ed, Tammy Byers, who is my best friend, the love of my life, and my wife of 30 years.  Tammy and I are blessed with two adult sons, Colin and Ryan.  Tammy is the Director of Women’s Ministries at Horizon Community Church developing programming to assist women in pursuing their faith.

Ryan is a graduate of Cincinnati Christian University with a degree in Humanities and a focus in Youth Ministry.  Serving kids at Mexican orphanage on two mission trips during high school was enough to give Ryan’s life purpose and why he is currently employed at Camp Stepping Stones helping young people with developmental disabilities learn life skills.

Colin was married in June of 2019 and we are incredibly excited for him and Alex as they start a life together and she becomes a part of our family.  In October of ‘19 Colin joined my practice and we are excited about working together, serving current and future clients.  Most fathers who own a business think about their son or daughter coming to work with them and I’m proud to share this opportunity with Colin.

Since 1991, I have worked with high net worth individuals, retirees, and the owners of family owned businesses to achieve their financial goals and create a legacy.  We build “relationships for life” with our clients and their families.  If you are interested in working with a client focused team, please contact me.

Blair Burnett

Client Relationship Manager

I was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, the horse capital of the world!   After high school, I studied Business Communications at the University of Kentucky before moving to Cincinnati and making it my home in 2016. I have grown to love it here, especially the goetta – a Cincinnati delicacy!  I’m not sure how I survived 26 years without it.  I must admit, I’m still a loyal Wildcats fan and definitely “Bleed Blue”.

Being from Lexington and having worked for one of the most historic thoroughbred stallion farms in the industry, it’s no surprise that I love horses. I love all animals for that matter! I try to make it to Keeneland each year for at least one of the fall or spring meets. The fall meet has always been my favorite though. There’s just something special about being there while the leaves are changing, and their bread pudding really hits the spot when it’s a little chilly!

A lot of my free time is spent watching The Food Network and trying to replicate some of the unique dishes they prepare.  My Chef skills are still a work in progress, sometimes the results are fantastic and other times it reaffirms I need to keep my day job.

If I’m not putting out fires in the kitchen then I’m likely curled up with a good book. One of my favorites is Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance.  Like most people I have had challenges to overcome in my life and the lessons captured in this book taught me how to be persistent and face whatever life throws at me head on.

I’m naturally curious about many topics.  If something catches my attention, I want to learn everything about it! This thirst for knowledge and information has helped me help others.  In my personal life I draw on my experiences and what I’ve learned to counsel young people in the charities I serve.

In my professional role as a Client Relationship Manager, I employ this approach in serving clients and finding the answers to their questions.  I take pride in being accessible and responsive to clients’ needs and I follow every service item for a client until its successful resolution.  I have great resources at my disposal to address even the most complex or one-off situation.  I’m extremely efficient about following up and confirming that everything is set up correctly for clients because I’ve seen firsthand the negative consequences when proper planning and processes aren’t in place.  I value a strong work ethic and rest assured; I will go that extra mile for you, Every Time.

When I came to work for Shawn three years ago, I didn’t have any financial services industry experience. Because of my GRIT, my curiosity, and desire for personal growth - I have become an integral part of his practice and I have acquired my Securities Series 6 and Life & Health Insurance licenses. I look forward to continuing to provide the highest level of service to our current and future clients.

Colin Hill

Marketing - Business Development

My hometown, Cincinnati, OH, is often referred to as the big city with a small-town feel.  It is full of energy, innovation and development.  Its citizens are optimistic, charitable and rooted in faith.  I fully embrace being a Cincinnatian, and as residents of the downtown core, my wife and I are enjoying its revitalization.

On June1, 2019, I married my best friend and love of my life, Alex.  She is the Programing Coordinator for The First Tee of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky – a charity with the mission of teaching life skills through the game of golf to underprivileged youth.  Alex attended the University of Cincinnati on a golf scholarship and coached golf while in graduate school at Southern Mississippi.  With two master’s degrees and a +2.5 handicap, I am reminded constantly that I am continuing a rich tradition of Hill men, “we marry Up”!  Alex and I love to golf, travel, and experiencing new adventures together.  We are blessed with supportive families and great friends who enjoy similar interests, so there is never a dull moment.

As I was growing up, my mom, Tammy, was always involved in charitable endeavors.  If the event she was planning called for 20 volunteers, she knew that she only needed to find 17; three spots were already filled.  Her example of service to others continues to this day in her role as the Director of Women’s Ministries at Horizon Community Church.

My brother Ryan is finishing his studies at Cincinnati Christian University to become a youth pastor.  I am very proud of him in following Mom’s example by helping kids pursue their faith.

My dad, Shawn, has been a Financial Planner my entire life.  My first job was caddying at the local country club, Dad’s idea.  Life lessons at an early age; show up on time, work hard, the value of a dollar, and how to effectively communicate with adults.  He encouraged me to save and he monitored my spending.  When you’re a kid trying to ‘sneak around’ and buy the latest toy or video game, it’s not easy to fool your financial planner father.

I came to appreciate his attention to detail and sincere concern for my financial wellbeing.  It wasn’t just about Ryan and me being frugal with our pennies, he had a longer-term vision that we just couldn’t see.  This patient and measured strategy was pulled directly from his daily work.  I wanted that vision and to understand the process behind it, so I studied.  I attended Miami University and the University of Cincinnati studying Marketing and Business.

I think part of me always wanted to work with my dad and in October of 2019, that opportunity finally arrived.  Prior to coming on board, I passed the SIE (Securities Industry Essentials) exam.  I am excited to learn every day and continue growing the practice my father has worked so hard to create.  I am humbled by this opportunity and cannot wait to see where it leads.  I look forward to helping our clients achieve financial security and create the legacy that they want to leave.
